Who: Staff (in white t-shirts) of TopDive Resort, Ted and Jocelyne Morris of Conifer, Colorado

Where: Aboard TopDive’s dive boat in Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Out and About: We went to the TopDive Tahiti Dive Festival in Bora Bora, French Polynesia for a week of fun & sun, that included diving and making new friends Bora Bora is truly one of the most beautiful places in the South Pacific and the world. The lagoon is so blue, and there are plenty of water and land activities for non-divers as well. We rented a car for ½ day and drove around the island, shopped in the pearl stores, and stopped along the way to snorkel & swim at the beaches. The highlight of the trip was diving with the manta rays, in the lagoon, and it is definitely a MUST DO for all scuba divers.

Travel tip: Although the food in Bora Bora at the hotels can be expensive, you can save money by skipping some of your meals at the hotel. You can go to the local grocery store and buy some snacks, french bread, croissants, cheese, local fruits (which are very delicious), or other foods to keep in your hotel’s mini bar fridge. Eating at local restaurants is also less expensive than the hotel restaurants. Pack light, because all you need are a couple of swimsuits, shorts & T-shirts or sundresses. Leave the long pants, sweaters, and high heels at home. It is very casual, so you don’t need any dressy clothes. Don’t forget the sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher, as the sun is very strong and will burn you even with sunscreen on! Alternate between shade and in the water to help avoid sunburn.
