Gypsum – An air ambulance veered off course while landing at Eagle County Airport on Friday, but only minor injuries were reported among the people on board, authorities said.
A patient, two pilots and a nurse were taken to hospitals as a precaution, said Kim Andree, spokeswoman for the Eagle County Sheriff’s Department.
Andree said a fire broke out on board the plane but was extinguished by firefighters. Aspen Aviation reportedly owns the plane. No other details were released.
It was the third accident involving a Colorado medical aircraft since January. A Yampa Valley Air Ambulance plane from Steamboat Springs crashed on Jan. 11 near Rawlins, Wyo., killing three of the four crew members. A Tri-State Careflight helicopter crashed near Mancos on June 30, killing all three crew members.
No patients were aboard either flight.
