What James R. Babb stuffs between the covers of his latest book won’t help you catch more fish, or at least not in the paint-by-numbers fashion of most angling authors. But he will entertain and inform you in a rib-tickling and often irreverent fashion that far exceeds what one typically finds in the literature. The title, “Fly-Fishin’ Fool: The Adventures, Misadventures and Outright Idiocies of a Compulsive Angler,” tells much of what you need to know. The editor of Gray’s Sporting Journal, Babb also connected on two previous books, “River Music” and “Crosscurrents.” Babb’s latest is priced at $24.95 from The Lyons Press.
