Out and about: Belize is full of fun things to do for all family members. As a day excursion while in our port of call in Belize City, we did a half-day boat ride through the mangrove brush along Haulover Creek and saw manatees and crocodiles and visited the City Museum that was a historic prison (thus, the jail windows behind us!)
Travel tip: However, be sure to double-check with the Belize tour company operators – our cruise company was notified the night before we arrived that children under 12 could not do the cave tubing adventure that we held tickets for and an air trip into the Mayan ruins of Tikal in Guatemala were also cancelled due to engine problems with the plane. Since everything we did and saw was new and different, we didn’t mind changing our travel plans, but others with children scheduled for the cave tubing and those expecting to visit Guatemala were disappointed with the last minute news.
