Five Colorado golfers, including the three-man Morse Cup team, will play in the Pacific Coast Amateur held Aug. 2-5 in Bandon, Ore.
The tournament is 72 holes of individual stroke play, with the first 36 holes also counting toward the Morse Cup team championship. The Colorado team will include Michael Baird of Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course, the University of Denver’s Charles Soule of Ute Creek G.C. and Drew Stoltz of Fort Collins Country Club.
Derek Tolan of South Suburban GC and Dustin Mills of Indian Tree GC have earned presidential invites to play in the championship.
Billups to host free camp
Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups will host a free youth basketball camp from Aug. 11-13 at Hiawatha Davis Jr. Recreation Center, where he grew up playing basketball. There is limited availability remaining for the camp at 3334 Holly St. for boys and girls ages 8-14. My neighborhood was tough and it doesn’t get a lot of positive publicity. ”
Figure skaters in Littleton
Littleton will host a regional championship in 2006, U.S. Figure Skating announced Thursday.
The Alpine Figure Skating Club will host the Southwestern Regional on Oct. 11-14, 2006.
Eagles re-sign forward
The defending Central Hockey League champion Colorado Eagles re-signed one of their original members, forward Fraser Filipic, to a one-year contract.
Filipic is the Eagles’ career leader in penalty minutes.
