Out and about: End-of-year company trip allowed us to explore the Big
Island. The Hapuna Beach on the Kona side was great fun while the Volcanoes
National Park made it seem like we were on another planet. Hilo was the site
of the last large Hawaiian tsunami where monuments still remain. It’s easy
to see how the recent tragedy could cause so much devastation.
Travel tip: Prepare for varied weather. In four short days we had sunny
beach days, torrential downpours and cold, windy volcano visits. Also, if
traveling with an infant be aware of pressure changes on their ears during
elevation changes.
