Who: Jeff and Silvia Taziri of Denver, Colorado
Where: In front of the statue of Duke Kahanamoku, the father of surfing on Waikiki beach in Oahu, Hawaii
Out and about: Oahu is very beautiful island. It was our first “tropical” experience and it was amazing! We enjoyed lying on the beach and floating in the water relaxing. Also there is so many places to see such as: Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, the Missouri, North Shore, Kualoa Ranch, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Dole Plantation and The Valley of the Temples etc.
Travel tip: We really recommend that everyone going to Hawaii try two things: Malasadas and Lava Flows. Malasadas are delicious Portuguese doughnuts, the best place to get them is at a bakery called Leonard’s by Waikiki. As you are in Hawaii you will likely be craving a tropical drink, ask for the Lava Flow. It is similar to a Pina Colada but with frozen strawberries whipped in – delicious! The best Lava Flow we tried was at a restaurant called Keo’s, which is close to Waikiki beach.
