Who: Bruce and Nancy Jordan of Colorado Springs and Raymond Ollett and Ann Spaeth of Denver, Colorado

Where: In the gardens of Las Galondrinas, a small intimate hotel at the edge of the City, Oaxaca, Mexico

Out and about: Oaxaca is a large but quaint colonial Mexican City 300 miles south of Mexico City (in the state of Oaxaca). The City is inland from beaches at the Pacific coast approximately 200 miles. It is known for, and “fits the bill” of having great food, with a clear Oaxacana flair. It is most known for being the “birthplace” of mole — and you can certainly experience many great types! All restaurants visited excelled in service and food. One can spend many days just walking the streets and visiting museums (archeological and art), shopping and just observing at the zolcolo (main square). Another entire week can be spent visiting the surrounding towns – each having a specific market day of the week and some very well known for specific, world renown crafts such as hand made pottery and rugs.

Travel tip: Monte Alban is a fabulous ruin right “above” the City. It is not to be missed. All markets and shops appear to have quality items ranging from rugs, sculpture to pottery.
