Who: Nelson And Joan Jacobs of Highlands Ranch, Colorado
Where: At a waterhole in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, Africa
Out and about: Our adventure began with a visit to spectacular Victoria Falls, a must if you go to southern Africa. We then enjoyed stays at four isolated game lodges in Namibia’s Mudumu National Park, Botswana’s Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park, and Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. The number and variety of animals observed and photographed during game drives and walks was outstanding; including elephants, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hippos, buffalos, crocodiles and numerous types of antelopes, small mammals, and birds. Experiencing a “false charge” from a big bull elephant was a highlight, while watching many amazing African sunsets left us with great memories.
Travel tip: For a photo safari, take more film and/or digital camera cards than you think you will need. When you find yourself surrounded by a herd of a hundred elephants you’ll find it hard to not shoot “just one more” shot!
