University of Colorado junior tailback Brandon Caesar will miss the 2005 season after suffering a torn patella tendon Wednesday. He will undergo surgery today.

It will be the second straight lost season for the 6-foot, 210-pound junior from Broussard, Quebec, who missed last year after surgeries on both knees.

He was a contender for the first-string tailback spot vacated by Bobby Purify, who graduated.

“We all feel badly for him,” Buffaloes coach Gary Barnett said.

Caesar played in nine games as a redshirt freshman in 2003, mainly on special teams. He had eight carries for 21 yards from scrimmage.

Sertich leaves C.C.

Colorado College forward Mike Sertich dropped out of school, saying he hasn’t bounced back from a shoulder injury and would like to find a school that better suits his career goal, landscape architecture.

Sertich, whose older brother, Marty, won the Hobey Baker Award last season, said Wednesday his left shoulder hasn’t responded to therapy since he had surgery in April, and he probably would have missed much of the upcoming season.
