The U.S. Senate confirmed Colorado Secretary of State Donetta Davidson to the federal Election Assistance Commission, Sen. Wayne Allard, R-Colo., announced Thursday.
Davidson, a Republican, would have to resign as secretary of state to accept the position on the commission, which sets guidelines and standards for states trying to implement the federal Help America Vote Act.
In a statement, Allard said Davidson will assume her post late next month. Gov. Bill Owens will name her replacement.
