A 14-year-old boy was killed when he fell off the back of a moving pickup truck and then was run over by the vehicle Thursday afternoon, Colorado State Patrol officers said.
The incident occurred in the driveway of a residence in the 6800 block of Starlight Drive in Morrison.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although it is illegal for children ages 6 to 16 to ride in a vehicle without a seat belt, police will have a hard time pressing charges because the incident occurred on private property, said State Patrol Trooper Ron Watkins.
“It’s a very gray area,” Watkins said. “Charges are possible, but it’s still being investigated.”
