The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team will host the eight-team Black Coaches Association Invitational this season, it was announced Thursday.
The tournament will be held Nov. 13-15 with four games each day.
Charlotte, an NCAA Tournament team from last season from Conference USA, and Butler, a frequent competitor in the NCAAs, highlight the teams coming to Laramie.
Other teams in the tournament are Northwestern, Alabama State, Coppin State, Lehigh and North Carolina-Wilmington.
“Hosting a tournament like this is one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities,” Wyoming coach Steve McClain said.
Also on the schedule is the Wyoming Shootout on Dec. 17 in Casper against Montana State.
Mountain West Conference play will have a Wednesday-Saturday format rather than the Saturday-Monday format of the past several seasons because the league is no longer part of Big Monday telecasts on ESPN.
UNC tennis earns honors
The Northern Colorado women’s tennis team earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-Academic team award for Division I after earning a team 3.62 grade-point average in 2004-05.
Anna Alexander, Erin Cable, Karen Groll, Meredith Krystofik, Lauren Schmidt and Carmen Vasos were also each named ITA scholar-athletes.
