Things appeared to remain quiet for the Nuggets during the weekend, though team officials may have their eyes on a new shooting guard.

Seattle’s Damien Wilkins, son of former NBA guard Gerald Wilkins and nephew of former all-star Dominique Wilkins, is a restricted free agent after his surprising rookie year, which saw him average 6.3 points per game.

Agent Mark Bartelstein named the Nuggets among the teams eyeing Wilkins. Others reportedly interested include Minnesota and Atlanta.

“We’re having conversations, but nothing’s settled right now,” Bartelstein said Sunday.

Denver general manager Kiki Vandeweghe could not be reached for comment. The Nuggets probably will make no major moves before Aug. 15, the deadline for teams to release players under the NBA’s one-time “amnesty” clause.

Footnotes

Through two games at the FIBA 21-and-under world championships in Argentina, Nugget second-round draft pick Ricky Sanchez has scored three points in 21 minutes for Puerto Rico, which started off 1-1. First-round pick Linas Kleiza originally was scheduled to compete in the tournament for Lithuania but has pulled out. Nevada’s Nick Fazekas, a graduate of Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, is on the U.S. team. … Bartelstein said another client of his, Nuggets free agent forward Mark Pope, will play this season.
