Colorado Springs – Hewlett-Packard’s plan to cut about 14,500 jobs companywide will include the loss of a still-undetermined number of positions from customer-service centers in Colorado, according to an internal memo.

H-P spokesman Ryan Donovan confirmed the authenticity of the memo obtained by the Colorado Springs Gazette but declined to comment on when the cuts would be made and whether any of those employees would be offered work elsewhere in the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company.

The memo said customer-service jobs would be cut in Colorado Springs, Littleton, Omaha and Indianapolis, and moved to the company’s business center in Guadalajara, Mexico.

H-P employs approximately 150,000 people worldwide, with about 5,400 of them in Colorado. It was unclear how many of them are in the customer-service division.

Besides Littleton and Colorado Springs, H-P has offices in Fort Collins and Loveland.

H-P officials have said the cuts, about 10 percent of the company’s full-time staff, are part of a restructuring plan designed to boost performance and save $1.9 billion annually. The company said the cuts would occur during the next 1 1/2 years.
