Crowds lined up outside the doors for the grand opening of Gesine’s Confectionary in Montpelier, Vt., last week as the “Miss Congeniality” star worked the front counter.
Bullock’s sister, shop owner Gesine Prado, barely could churn out the goodies as fast as Bullock could sell them on Aug. 2. Bullock, wearing a white apron, handed out cookies, scones, muffins and coffeecakes, and by midmorning the shop’s cases were nearly empty. Bullock would not say what her role in the shop was but said she would work there occasionally. “Only when I need the money,” she said.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is negotiating with the creators of the Oscar-nominated animated short film “Wallace and Gromit” about a TV series for children. The “Naked Chef” met animators to discuss ideas for new shows featuring the characters, Oliver told London’s Daily Mirror.
Katie Couric is fighting back, telling The New Yorker rumors of her catty behavior and prima-donna off-camera antics have left her feeling “like a human piñata.”
