The New York Daily News’ Lloyd Grove reports that MSNBC president Rick Kaplan berated Keith Olbermann in the Secaucus, N.J., newsroom-studio after Olbermann’s “Countdown” show ended Monday night. Olbermann eulogized ABC News anchor Peter Jennings, who died Sunday of lung cancer, by recounting his own cancer scare. Olbermann, a former pipe and cigar smoker, urged viewers to quit smoking and repeatedly mentioned “spitting blood” after doctors discovered a benign tumor in his mouth.
Sources said Kaplan, also a cigar smoker, erupted angrily and called Olbermann “out of control” and “not to be trusted,” and accusing him of driving away viewers from the debut of “Live and Direct,” hosted by Kaplan hire Rita Cosby.
Kaplan also reportedly told Olbermann: “I don’t care if you don’t come to work tomorrow.” Olbermann did appear for Tuesday’s show.
Pete Doherty and Kate Moss are a couple again, but only after the British rocker set fire to his bed to show the supermodel how much he loves her, the Sun in London reported.
The odd behavior is nothing new for the lead singer of the Babyshambles. Last week, Doherty was arrested for allegedly punching a British newspaper journalist. A month ago at the Live 8 concert in London, he gave a widely criticized performance and abruptly fired his manager. He also has undergone rehabilitation for a drug addiction.
Also reportedly back together are Sienna Miller and her fiancé and fellow actor Jude Law, according to Star magazine.
Miller, reportedly 10 weeks pregnant with Law’s baby, and the “Alfie” star met for three nights in a Dorchester hotel working on a reconciliation.
Law had an affair with Daisy Wright, the nanny to his two children with former wife Sadie Frost, causing his breakup with Miller. The New York Post reports Miller has been seeing Gilda Carle, a famed psychotherapist who refers to chronically philandering men as “cheataholics.”
Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, is expecting her second child, the Mirror in London reported. She and her husband, Prince Edward, feared she could not have another child after troubles with her first pregnancy. 20-month-old daughter Louise was born four weeks early and has exotropia, a condition in which one eye turns outward.
Sophie, 40, is believed to be 12 weeks into her pregnancy, the Mirror reported.
Paparazzi who chased Reese Witherspoon from her gym to her home will not face criminal charges, Los Angeles prosecutors say. The photographers may have terrified the actress in the April incident, but there was no evidence of false imprisonment or other crimes, said William Hodgman of the district attorney’s office.
