Getting your player ready...

Fort Collins – Colorado State senior safety Ben Stratton missed his second straight practice Thursday with a hip pointer.

Linebacker Luke Adkins (knee) and defensive end Matt Rupp (hamstring) remain sidelined indefinitely. The only player to return to practice was defensive end Terrance Carter, who had missed several days with a concussion.

Coach Sonny Lubick is reluctant to schedule scrimmages during August because of the chance of players getting injured. The Rams will have some live contact work Saturday.

In Sports Illustrated’s preview edition, CSU ranked No. 66, while Wyoming landed at No. 25. Air Force came in at No. 95.

With the Hughes Stadium renovation on target for completion before the Sept. 24 home opener, the school used the Sept. 17 bye date to schedule tours for fans.

Cowboys’ Harrison sits

Wyoming running back Ivan Harrison said he may not be able to play until Oct. 1 because of his repaired right knee.

Instead of participating in team drills during practice this week, Harrison has been restricted to agility drills.

The 5-foot-7, 190-pound junior from Kansas City, Kan., underwent offseason surgeries to repair an anterior cruciate ligament, which he injured in the Las Vegas Bowl, and to repair an injured right shoulder.

“The shoulder feels good. It just amounts to getting the pads on and taking a hit,” Harrison said this week. “The knee is not really bothering me. It’s just getting the strength back. I’m probably 75 to 80 percent.”

Harrison anticipates returning possibly as early as Sept. 17 for the Air Force game in Colorado Springs, but he’s aware he could be out until the Oct. 1 game with UNLV.
