Wearing turquoise suede jackets and chaps studded with bottle caps, models strode down the runway at Saturday’s Buckaroo Ball in colorful styles from Double D Ranch and Ariat boots.
Western wear cycles in and out of fashion, and this is one of its hot moments. Beaded vests, fringed jackets and long tiered skirts were among the looks shown by Double D for fall that underscore the trend. Boots with colorful tooling, contrast stitching and
multiple colors of leather anchored every outfit.
But it was the under-12 cowpokes – ambassadors from Children’s Hospital – who earned the biggest applause from the 800 attending the ball at Tom and Diana Wiens’ ranch near Castle Rock.
Kelly Culshaw, 9, was a vision in pink, while Whitney Boyce, 7, wore a denim dress with leopard detail. Jessica Kramer, 11, was decked out in a jean jacket and skirt, and gap-toothed Liam Orlando, 5, tipped his black hat to the crowd. All have been patients at Children’s Hospital, whose research institute will benefit from funds raised at the fifth annual ball.
The kids got to keep the outfits they modeled, compliments of Dillard’s. “It’s a little bit we could do, for all they’ve been through,” said Arlis White, manager of the Park Meadows store.
Ten percent of the proceeds from sales of Double D Ranch and Ariat boots at Park Meadows through Sept. 3 also will be donated to the research institute.
