Ben Stratton, a three-year starter in the secondary for Colorado State, will miss the entire 2005 season, the school announced today.
Stratton suffered a tear of his anterior cruciate ligament during practice on Friday. After evaluating the injury over the weekend, the school said Stratton will begin rehabilitation immediately and then face surgery to repair the tear.
“You hate to have it happen to anyone, but especially to someone like Ben Stratton,” CSU coach Sonny Lubick said in a statement. “He has worked so hard, and has been so dedicated and committed to our football program. He exemplifies what we expect our student-athletes to be in our program.”
It’s a tough loss for us, but the other players will have to step up in Ben’s absence,” Lubick said.
Stratton, a senior from Cheyenne, Wyo., plans to redshirt this year and have one year of eligibility remaining in 2006, the school said.
