Who: Kina and Leon Palmer of Boulder, Dave Boileau and Shirley Kirschbaum of Highlands Ranch, and Cheryl and Dennis Gospodarek of Littleton
Where: Glacier Bay
Out and about: The inside passage was a fantastic way to see Alaska, and on Glacier Bay Cruise Lines we were able to see wildlife and scenery the big cruise ships can’t get to. We had great weather in June, and it was prime viewing for whales. We were able to kayak several times and once around the icebergs. With the expertise of the staff, the first-
timers lost their fear and paddled away. We saw much of Alaska’s natural beauty: many glaciers, panoramic mountain views and abundant wildlife.
Travel tip: We recommend a small ship. Our ship was the Wilderness Discoverer, which accommodates 81 passengers in 41 cabins. We were able to get to know all the staff by name, and they knew us by name as well. We suggest dressing in layers; bring your waterproof rain gear and a lot of film.
