Bennett – A suspect in a shooting that left two men dead told investigators he was having a relationship with a sister of one of the victims, authorities said today.
Arapahoe County Undersheriff Mark Campbell said Jason William Bondurant, 25, was arrested outside the home where the shootings took place Thursday afternoon.
Bondurant was being held on suspicion first-degree murder, kidnapping, burglary and felony menacing.
Campbell said Christopher Hawkins, 31, and Cory Reed, 18, were shot when a man tried to enter the home in unincorporated Arapahoe County near Bennett, about 25 miles east of Denver.
Campbell said Bondurant told investigators he was involved with Hawkins’ sister.
Seven other people, including four children, were in the house at the time and had locked themselves in the basement, Campbell said. They were found safe.
