The owners of the Wolcott Yacht Club Grill are not lying when they tell you their venue is the “No. 1 Thing to do in Wolcott.” It is, in fact, the only thing to do in the blink-and-its-gone village off Interstate 70 west of Edwards. But even if there were competition, the Wolcott hot spot would be a winner. The modest grill serves the best breakfast burrito in the Vail Valley. And the courtyard bar next door is the place to be on Friday afternoons, when live music and lively working folk combine for a rowdy welcome to the weekend. The club is expanding to include more live music through the winter and the grill has gutted its next-door liquor store to make more room for indoor tunes and tasty food. The famous Friday Afternoon Club of course will remain a valley staple, with its fresh seafood bar, local music and busy outdoor barbecue. Now, the Friday festivities that made the Wolcott Yacht Club will stretch week-long and year-round.
