The Dave Matthews Band will add one more date to its sold- out, three-night run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre next week to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and concert promoter Chuck Morris announced Wednesday that they will hold a news conference at noon today in the lobby of Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium to share the details.
“Dave Matthews and his band are very special people,” Morris said while en route to Red Rocks Amphitheatre to catch Wednesday night’s sold-out show featuring Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and the Black Crowes.
“It doesn’t surprise me that (DMB) wants to help put this thing together,” Morris said.
The Dave Matthews Band has already sold out three Red Rocks dates, Sept. 9-11. The group will play the fourth show on Sept. 12, with tickets going on sale next week, according to Billboard.com.
Currently promoting its latest release, “Stand Up,” the band last played Colorado in 2003. It enjoys a strong following in part because of the CD “Live at Folsom Field,” a double disc recorded in 2001 during a Boulder show.
