Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were anything but a cozy couple at the MTV Video Music Awards in Miami last weekend.
Walking the red carpet last Saturday, Simpson, minus her wedding ring, asked her husband, “Are we gonna do this together?” Lachey shrugged indifferently, a source told the New York Daily News’ Lloyd Grove. Once inside the Loews Hotel, the couple barely spoke to each other, the spy said.
Sunday night, Simpson prepared to perform “Fired Up,” her new single, at the Delano Hotel when the wrong music track played. She pulled one of her sister Ashlee’s tricks and fled the stage, Life & Style Weekly magazine reported.
In high school, Vince Vaughn was anything but a hunk.
“He was just hopeless with girls at high school,” former Lake Forest (Ill.) High School classmate and pal Todd Nelson told the London Daily Mirror. “They saw him as the class clown. He was tall and scrawny and always playing practical jokes on teachers.”
Vaughn was fast-talking and smart-mouthed, Dean of Students David Strain said. “I knew that he would do something with humor,” Strain said. “But I figured he would end up in some kind of sales position.”
Lindsay Lohan claims she tried to end her feud with Hilary Duff.
“I called her last week, and I was like, ‘Do you wanna hang out?’ And her sister hung up the phone on me!” Lohan told the magazine Australian.
The feud began when Lohan learned Duff was dating her ex-boyfriend, singer Aaron Carter, four years ago. Lohan admitted the feud’s beginning “was so stupid.”
Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller will team for the sci-fi comedy “Used Men,” Variety magazine reported. Carrey and Stiller will play obsolete pleasure clones to be replaced by superior models whose skills include better listening and lovemaking skills.
Jessica Alba says she does not “Dream of Jeannie.” The star of “The Fantastic Four” and “Sin City” told the New York Daily News she just signed to appear in “the independent film ‘The Wake’ for Miramax, actually, with Sigourney Weaver and Hayden Christensen.” So she’s not starring in the remake of the Barbara Eden TV series? “Not that I know of, no,” Alba said.
Johnny Depp has bought a stake in the new Empire Ballroom nightclub in Las Vegas, the New York Daily News reported. General manager Salvatore Jenco, who collaborated with Depp on the Viper Room in Los Angeles, says the 16,000-square-foot club will have a “’30s-speakeasy feel” with a state-of- the-art sound system.
