Los Angeles – Hurricane Katrina telethons reminiscent of benefits for victims of Sept. 11, 2001, and the December tsunami were announced Wednesday with artists including Wynton Marsalis and Green Day, while Jerry Lewis’ annual Labor Day fundraiser will join in as well.

Lewis said his telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association would include celebrity appeals for hurricane relief.

The telethon is scheduled to be broadcast in Denver on KWGN-Channel 2 beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday.

“A Concert for Hurricane Relief” will air on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC on 7 p.m. MDT Friday, NBC Universal Television Group announced. The hour-long special is scheduled to include performances by Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr. and Tim McGraw.

Another aid effort was announced by MTV Networks, starting with a Sept. 10 music special airing on MTV, VH1 and CMT and featuring Green Day and other performers.
