A former day-care operator accused of sexually assaulting children in his care was charged Thursday with an additional count for allegedly taking lewd photographs of a former student.

Joseph Renander, 28, was jailed over the weekend on two counts of violating his bond by being around children younger than 18, authorities said.

Investigators have matched photos of a girl posing in lewd positions with a girl who was in Renander’s care, according to court documents. The girl in the photos is not among six victims named in previous cases against Renander.

Prosecutors filed one count of sexual exploitation of a child against Renander on Thursday and two bond-violation counts.

Renander, who operated day-care centers in Golden and Lakewood, has been around children at a church he’s joined and also the child who is in the photographs investigators recently matched, court documents state.

Investigators have been going through thousands of digital images since seizing Renander’s computers from his home and business after his initial arrest in March.

After his arrest Saturday, bail was raised to $50,000. He posted bond Wednesday but was at the Jefferson County Jail on Thursday morning while his release was processed.

Renander has pleaded not guilty to 22 felony counts that include multiple counts of sexual assault by a person in a position of trust.
