Arkansas deer and elk
Public meetings to discuss management of deer and elk herds in the upper Arkansas Valley are scheduled Monday in Cañon City and Tuesday in Buena Vista. The former will be at the Bureau of Land Management office, 3170 E. Main St.; the latter at the Sangre de Cristo Electric Association building, 29780 U.S. 24 North. The process involves game management units 48, 481, 49, 56, 561, 57 and 58. For additional comment, contact biologist Jack Vayhinger at 719-530-5537.
Kids clinic
Youths age 7-16 may participate in a shotgun and archery clinic 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ramah State Wildlife Area archery range off U.S. 24, 4 miles west of Ramah. A parent must be present.
Northwest sportsmen
A meeting of the Northwest Sportsmen’s Advisory Group is scheduled 6:30-9:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Grand Junction DoubleTree Hotel, Interstate 70 at Horizon Drive. The public is invited to participate in a discussion of any wildlife issue in the region.
