Arvada – Rep. Bob Beauprez, R-Colo., underwent surgery for a herniated disc in his lower back, his spokesman said Thursday.
Beauprez had the operation Wednesday and is expected to return to work next week, Jordan Stoick said.
Beauprez, a second-term congressman and former state GOP chairman, plans to run for governor in 2006.
Back pain forced him to miss an appearance Saturday in Grand Junction, Stoick said.
Beauprez represents Colorado’s 7th District.
