Former state aquatic manager Eddie Kochman has been honored as a “Conservation Hero” by the Colorado Environmental Coalition.
Kochman was cited for his work during a long career with the Colorado Division of Wildlife and for his volunteer efforts since retiring in 2003.
Free youth hunting events
Safety training, target shooting and a live game-bird hunting experience await participants at a Sept. 25 event at ECHO Hunt Club south of Stratton. Durango man sixth
Brian Capsay of Durango finished sixth in the Total Outdoorsman Challenge sponsored by Field & Stream magazine. The national competition among licensed guides featured archery, fly-casting, bait casting, marksmanship, game-calling and endurance. The winner was Scot Marcin of Gallatin, Tenn.
