
Andre Leon Talley, Vogue’s editor at large, opened his mouth – and inserted his foot – on Thursday’s “Oprah Winfrey Show” claiming the magazine’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour “does not like fat people.” Sandy Schaffer of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance was not amused. “That you can make that statement and not realize it’s hateful, in this day in age, is shocking,” Schaffer told the New York Daily News’ Lloyd Grove.
Gerard Depardieu denies he was intoxicated during an appearance on the British talk show “Tonight With Jonathan Ross” last week.
The French actor stubbed out a cigarette on the floor and appeared to be slurring his speech when he admitted he drank “between four and eight bottles” of wine a day. Depardieu was promoting a cookbook on the show, and when asked how took to cook a hedgehog, the actor said, “You inflate it through its (rear).”
Depardieu claimed the appearance was an act. “It’s only the French who were shocked. We had a laugh, and it was great. (The British) are people who have a great sense of humor and with whom you can arrange things like that. It is the French who are cretins.”
Martha Stewart, marking her mother’s 91st birthday, pledged $5 million to fund the creation of the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. No word if any of the money will upgrade the hospital’s food.

Lawson tries a new formula: chocolate
Nigella Lawson is back in the food business. After her cooking/talk show flopped in Britain, the celebrity chef will host “Nigella’s Chocolate Christmas Special” for BBC2. Lawson’s ITV1 show drew only an average of 700,000 viewers and was panned by TV critics.
