After watching the Broncos lose games to big teams, I get sick when I see what Brian Griese is doing for Tampa Bay. What are the chances of getting him back as a QB?
— Angela Braman, Omaha
Angela – First of all, the Buccaneers are happy with him, and I do believe the Broncos are happy without him. Don’t see that one happening again.
What do you like about covering “Monday Night Football” games?
— Tony B., Denver
Tony – It’s a good time because it is a major event and you know everyone is paying attention to it. It’s like a mini-playoff game. It’s the big show for the night.
With more stories about how the Redskins could be the worst team in the NFL this year, am I wrong about how the Broncos could be lining up to be first in the Matt Leinart sweepstakes? With two first-round choices, the Broncos could even trade up to first choice if necessary. Any thoughts? Thanks.
— Phil D., Gardnerville, Nev.
Phil – Heard that. Lots of things would have to happen before that type of move was to unravel. Think the team will be looking more at receivers and offensive linemen in the first round – and with two picks, both areas could be addressed.
Here’s one for the conspiracy theorists. Former Denver quarterback Matt Mauck was under coach Nick Saban at LSU. Matt is a very bright young man and was passed over by the Broncos – hell hath no fury like a quarterback scorned. Is it likely that Matt could have passed any information onto Saban regarding the Broncos? Could such information have been used to benefit the Dolphins’ game plan for the Broncos on Sept. 11?
— Keith Churilla, Salem, Ore.
Don’t think so. Keep working on that script, though, Keith. Good stuff. Mauck probably wasn’t too thrilled with Saban after he didn’t choose to claim him on waivers. Mauck is on Tennessee’s practice squad. Now, if the Broncos were to play Tennessee this year, I could see Mauck helping Jeff Fisher’s cause. But that’s as far as this tale goes.
