Rapids leading scorer Jeff Cunningham will be fined, but not suspended, for leaving the bench Wednesday after being substituted for in Colorado’s 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake, coach Fernando Clavijo said Thursday.
Cunningham had a heated exchange with Clavijo after he was taken off in the 53rd minute. Cunningham then walked off the field at Invesco Field at Mile High.
“As an ex-player, I can understand being upset with the coach’s decisions, but there is a right way to handle it,” Clavijo said Thursday.
Zaremba wins Senior Section Championship
Mike Zaremba of Walking Stick Golf Course made par on the final hole to edge Ken Krieger of Cheyenne Country Club, who bogeyed the last hole, to win the Colorado PGA Senior Section Championship at Walking Stick in Pueblo. Zaremba shot 134, Krieger 135. Tom Nosewicz of Meadow Hills finished third at 138.
Hurricane Rita delays DU volleyball match
The University of Denver’s volleyball match against Louisiana-Lafayette, scheduled for noon Sunday, will be rescheduled after the Ragin’ Cajuns were unable to fly to Denver because of Hurricane Rita.
