Getting your player ready...
Jeff Francis will have to pitch lights-out against Barry Bonds and the Giants tonight if he wants a fitting encore to his previous performance. That came Sunday in Arizona when he shut out the Diamondbacks for six innings and faced the minimum 18 batters. Francis (13-12, 5.79 ERA) has more wins than any other rookie starting pitcher in the majors this season. Bonds is 0-for-1 against Francis, with two walks and a strikeout.
Matt Kinney (2-0, 1.04) gets his first start for the Giants this season. He’s filling in for Jason Schmidt, who’s out with a groin injury.
