Lubbock, Texas – Taurean Henderson ran for 141 yards and three touchdowns as No. 19 Texas Tech rolled to another early season runaway, pounding Division I-AA Indiana State 63-7 on Saturday night.
The Red Raiders were coming off an 80-21 rout of Sam Houston State, another I-AA school. This time, they scored only once after taking a 56-0 lead on their first possession of the third quarter.
Henderson, the NCAA’s active leader in touchdowns, scored on runs of 3, 44 and 6 yards. His first scoring run made him the Red Raiders’ career leader in touchdowns and points. He finished the game with 55 career touchdowns for 330 points – James Gray had 52 touchdowns and 312 points from 1986-89.
Texas Tech’s Cody Hodges went 25-of-32 passing for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Hodges and Henderson both came out after the first half.
Hodges, who entered as the nation’s leader with 445 yards passing per game, threw his first interception of the season.

Manhattan, Kan. – Parrish Fisher was quite a sub for Kansas State, running for 169 yards in place of Thomas Clayton, and Denver’s Allen Webb passed for 256 yards and two touchdowns as the Wildcats (3-0) rolled up a school-record 658 total yards in a rout of the Mean Green (1-2).
Clayton, the nation’s leading rusher, was benched by coach Bill Snyder. There was speculation all week whether Clayton would play because he had been charged with aggravated battery after driving away from and allegedly grazing a campus parking services employee. Before the game, Snyder said only that Clayton would suffer “consequences” for his action.
Fisher more than made up for Clayton’s absence, adding 59 yards on receptions. With 169 yards on 21 carries, he became the first K-State freshman to run for 100-plus yards in a game.
Webb, a Chatfield graduate, completed 10-of-12 passes.
