The venerable Colorado Mountain Club holds its annual Mountain Festival this weekend in Golden.
Mountain landscape art exhibitions and a silent auction will anchor the festival’s sampling of free clinics, demonstrations and symposiums. On-the-trail nutrition, wildflower identification, rock climbing technique, avalanche awareness, snowshoeing essentials and wilderness first-aid demonstrations from mountain experts will be held throughout the weekend as part of the festival’s mountain skills expo at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden.
GoLite founder Demetri “Coup” Coupounas will share his light-and-fast backpacking philosophy, and climbers will regale visitors with tales from Everest and Argentina’s Cerro de Aconcagua.
