Cactus Jack’s Saloon has one very important thing most bars lack: pingpong.
In addition to bottle-hurling bartenders who can swoosh longnecks from afar, lots of live music and respectable barbecue, the prickly Jack’s has a table for pong paddlers.
Evergreen’s character-rich bar features one of those fancy Internet jukeboxes with infinite songs for the daytime moments when musicians aren’t plying their trade on the big patio overlooking the small creek. The 3-to-7 happy hour is indeed merry, with “garage sale” shelf-cleaning specials on neglected drinks like melon pineapple coconut vodka. The food alone is a good enough reason to stop at Cactus Jack’s. Tender baby back ribs and brisket sandwiches rank as top offerings. And don’t miss the crispy and gooey fried mac-and-cheese nuggets to erase anything healthy you’ve recently done.
