Who: Ron and Mary Ireland of Littleton
Where: Madame Tussauds
Out and about: It was great hanging out with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt while in London. We saw Jennifer Aniston as well. She seemed so lonely, standing all by herself. It was strange how quiet they were, but then again we didn’t care, as there were lots of celebrities to stand next to while asking strangers to take our picture with wax figures at Madame Tussauds. What we didn’t realize was that you have such close access to all of the wax figures, politicians as well as English royalty, topped off by the Chamber of Horrors. You also have a London cab ride through an animation set on the history of London.
Travel tip: Madame Tussauds is expensive at 23 pounds for an adult ticket. That is close to $40. It only takes 90 minutes to go through everything, including the planetarium. The route you take from room to room is one way, ending at a gift shop and exit with no re-entry allowed, so make sure you take your time. The tip we found out a day late was the two-for-one coupon in the Sunday London Times. For those of you who are worried about London being safe from terrorists, we didn’t have any problems, and rode the Underground Tube as well as the double-decker buses. We saw no additional security, and London seemed very much the same as it did a year ago when we were last there. Plus, hotels are cheaper now.
