Nearly two years out, producers of the hit musical “Wicked” have announced a return visit to Denver.
The show’s current, sold-out, touring production is playing in Denver through October 28th. Today, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts announced that “Wicked” will come back to the Buell Theatre between May 16th and June 3rd, 2007.
Denver Post theater critic John Moore rated the musical favorably, writing in a Sept. 20, 2005 review, “This musical provides a marvelously inventive back story that should delight any devotee of ‘The Wizard of Oz.”‘
The musical is the life story of the Wicked Witch of the West.
“It is ridiculous fun visiting the intersecting childhoods of the calculatingly “good” Glinda and the not-so-mean, green Elphaba.” Moore wrote.
The musical, which opened on Broadway in 2003, is based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire.
