Snow has already begun to dust the high country, so we’re probably only a few cold fronts away from being frozen out of the most take-your-breath-away drives in Colorado. There are dozens of brilliant mountain journeys to be made, but we’ve picked six routes that could be considered the standard bearers. We selected them for their extraordinary scenery, proximity to unusual geological features and historic sites, and, in some cases, because riding along them is a pure thrill.
