
Tyler Schelpat is a sophomore enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program at Thornton High School.
Tyler plays cello in the school symphonic orchestra and has participated in the Colorado All County Orchestra concert, as well as the Adams 12 Honor Orchestra Festival.
He has been nominated twice by his teachers to attend People to People International leadership conferences. Tyler attended the group’s World Leadership Forum in Washington in 2003 and the International Summit in London, Paris and Brussels, Belgium, in 2004. He is also enrolled in its Leadership Summit at Georgetown University in Washington for 2006.
In middle school, Tyler was on the football, wrestling and track teams. He placed sixth in the 2004 state wrestling tournament in the 145-pound class. He has also played on community soccer and roller hockey teams and is learning how to play the electric bass guitar.
Tyler is an Eagle Scout in Thornton Troop 417 and regularly volunteers at the Mile-Hi Humane Society in Northglenn. His Eagle Scout project was landscaping for Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
