The University of Denver was ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com/CSTV preseason poll released Monday, and Colorado College was sixth. The Pioneers, who have won the past two NCAA titles, received 662 points and 17 of 36 first-place votes. The Tigers received 523 points. Minnesota, Boston College, Cornell and Ohio State round out the top five.
In the other college hockey preseason rankings, the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, DU was ranked second and CC checked in at seventh. The Pioneers garnered 449 points – 15 fewer than No. 1 Minnesota. The Gophers collected 17 first-place votes, and DU received 14. Ohio State and Cornell are tied for third, followed by Boston College and North Dakota. Michigan, New Hampshire and Wisconsin complete the top 10.
