The Broncos met two needs with two moves Tuesday: They added depth on the offensive line by signing guard Chris Myers and reduced a surplus of cornerbacks by releasing Curome Cox.

The Cincinnati Bengals, who have recently lost two offensive linemen to injuries, were pursuing Myers, the Broncos’ sixth-round pick from Miami who was on Denver’s practice squad.

But the Broncos promoted the rookie to keep him. The team now has eight offensive linemen on the active roster.

The release of Cox, who was promoted from the practice squad Sunday morning, is another indication the Broncos are getting healthier at cornerback. Sunday at Jacksonville, Denver played without starters Champ Bailey and Darrent Williams and backup Roc Alexander. The lack of depth necessitated Cox’s promotion.

Williams might practice as soon as today, and Bailey could practice this week as well.

The Broncos don’t have immediate plans to re-sign running back Quentin Griffin, who was cut Sunday to make room for Cox. If there is an injury at running back, Griffin likely would return.

Meanwhile, Denver worked out linebackers Khalid Abdullah, Bryan Knight, Jeremy Loyd and Lavar Woods.

Plummer not fined

In his second decal mini-drama in a year, Jake Plummer will not be fined for not wearing one that read “Futbol Americano” on Sunday at Jacksonville.

The NFL had all of its players wear the decal on the back of their helmets to commemorate that night’s NFL game in Mexico City, in which Arizona defeated San Francisco 31-14. An NFL spokesman said Tuesday that Plummer won’t be fined.

Last year, the league threatened to fine the quarterback up to $30,000 if he continued to wear a decal honoring friend Pat Tillman. The league had its players wear the decal for one game to honor Tillman, who died in Afghanistan while serving in the U.S. Army. Plummer and the league came to an agreement, which included Plummer filming public service announcements honoring Tillman.
