A view of the Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway Engine No. 4 climbing Pikes Peak. The railway was completed in October 1890 and ran on a limited basis until June 1891, when it opened to the public. The railway has been running for 114 years, and at the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak, it is the highest cog railroad in the world, the highest Colorado railroad and the highest train in the United States, according to the cog railway website.
