Metro St., Fort Lewis soccer players honored
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Wednesday named two members of Metro State soccer teams as offensive players of the week. Sophomore Shaun Elbaum was named men’s offensive player of the week and junior Kylee Hanavan was named for the women.
Elbaum scored two goals in the Roadrunners’ 5-3 upset of No. 11 West Texas A&M last week and scored the only goal in Metro State’s 1-0 victory over Westminster (Utah) on Sunday. Hanavan scored four goals in the Roadrunners’ 7-1 victory over No. 21 Texas A&M-Commerce last week.
Two Fort Lewis goalkeepers also were honored. Nick Clark was named men’s defensive player of the week and sophomore Jeanna Turk was named for the women.
Chill wants to fill open spots with locals
The Colorado Chill of the National Women’s Basketball League will hold open tryouts Saturday, Oct. 15 to fill up to four positions. Tryouts will be at the Gym of the Rockies in Fort Collins beginning at 9 a.m.
