For more than 25 years, George Peters has built extraordinary “aerial sculpture” – you can call them kites – propelled skyward with thrilling whimsy and grace. He brings his show to Denver today and will fly his own creations at about 11:30 a.m. Stick around at least until noon, when hundreds of white doves will flutter up as part of the dedication of the Frances Melrose Garden, at Sloan’s Lake, on Meade Street between West 18th and 19th avenues. If you missed him on “David Letterman” with Earl Scruggs and the other Men With Banjos Who Know How to Use Them, you can catch Bluegrass Grammy nominee Pete Wernick along with Flexigrass, in a free outdoor concert in Niwot. It’s a BYO-lawn chair sort of affair featuring the man who brought you Hot Rize and Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers. He has redefined the bluegrass genre again. This time fusing bluegrass and jazz with the help of Greg Harris on the vibraphone, Bill Pontarelli on the clarinet, Kris Ditson on drums, Roger Johns on bass and vocals by Joan Wernick.
