Swank it ain’t, but for $65 a night the Seedhouse Guard Station gets four people on skis, snowshoes or snowmobiles away from it all. Built as a summer residence for forest rangers, the two-room cabin near the edge of the Mount Zirkel Wilderness is a cozy little spot to start a weekend on marked trails in the Routt National Forest. When master glass blowers and longtime partners Rick and Kathy Steckel and Jared Davis split their hot shops, Davis headed down to Colorado 92, where he wrestles large art-glass vessels. The Steckels kept K Dahl, where they work magic with light fixtures. You can see both group’s work at K Dahl’s retail gallery, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and by appointment, 970-921-6160.
