Sale of PPIR perplexing

I’ve read your article on the sale and shutdown of Pikes Peak International Raceway. I have yet to see an explanation for why International Speedway Corporation would buy it to close it. Aren’t you at all curious? I can only guess ISC doesn’t like the competition, and would rather shut it down than face it.

“Field of dreams” realized

On Oct. 1, I attended the opening practice of the Mile High Miracle League at the Foothills Shaffer Athletic Complex. The athletes, volunteers and families in attendance were excited to participate on this rubberized synthetic surface. Lisa and Roger Koenigsberg had a dream of creating this ballpark for people with severe physical disabilities. They partnered with Foothills Recreation Center in order to create such a facility.

This truly is a field of dreams.

A definite American flavor

What do these places have in common: Scottsdale, Ariz.; Mesa, Ariz.; Draper, Utah; Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; and Orlando, Fla.? They are home to six of the 10 members of the “International” team – all of whom play regularly on the PGA Tour. In two years it may be known as the Presidents Intrasquad Cup.
