Panasonic’s SD Micro System provides music fans a convenient way to enjoy their favorite tunes at home or on the go. The compact audio system includes a five-disc CD player, a cassette deck and a slot for a Secure Digital (SD) card. It also ships with a portable digital audio player and a 1-gigabyte SD card. The unit can record music from a CD or cassette tape onto an SD card for playback on the system or its portable player. The package, which includes the SC-PM71 SD Micro System and the SV-SD90 portable player, costs $400.

Sportster Replay helps fans stay tuned to game
The Sirius Sportster Replay helps busy sports fans stay tuned while on the road. Similar to TiVo’s TV recording devices, the mobile system lets you “pause” up to 44 minutes of live satellite radio and play it back later. The device displays scores on its screen, lets you know when a favorite team is about to start a game and issues alerts when a score changes. The Sportster Replay with Mobile Kit costs $170 and includes a Sportster Replay receiver, a remote control, a docking cradle, a windshield suction-cup mount, a magnetic antenna and a vehicle power adapter. A subscription to Sirius radio, which delivers NFL, NBA, NHL and college sports games, as well as commercial-free music, costs $12.95 a month.

Hand-held gadget records, plays video
Tweens (and gadget-loving adults) can record and play TV shows and music on Tiger Electronics’ new VuGo personal video player. Priced at $120, the hand-held gadget sports the same rectangular styling of Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP), albeit with a smaller 3-inch color screen. The VuGo also has 128 megabytes of memory and a slot for a Secure Digital (SD) memory card. You can record TV shows through its audio and video jacks or download tunes, photos and video from your computer through a USB port. Music videos and cartoons can be downloaded via www.vugo.com. It’s due in stores this fall.
