Police found the body of a Kiowa man Friday who had gone missing in Monday’s snowstorm.
Colorado State Patrol investigators were notified of a 1996 Chevy pickup that had overturned off an embankment on Colorado 86 in Elbert County, about 2 miles west of Kiowa.
Norman R. Hobbs, 60, was found dead inside the pickup, State Patrol officials said.
Investigators determined that Hobbs was traveling eastbound on Colorado 86 when he lost control, ran off the right side of the road and traveled approximately 25 feet down an embankment. The truck came to rest on its top.
Hobbs had called to ask for assistance during the storm after driving off the road in Elbert County. However, he later called to say he’d been pulled out of the ditch and was OK, according to family and friends.
Blizzard conditions buried the truck, and it was not visible from the road until sufficient snow had melted on Friday, State Patrol officials said.
